Have you ever fancied messing about on the water? Ever felt that tingle of well-being and the sense of mindfulness being on or near water can bring?

At Somerset Boat Centre we can offer you a variety of ways to get on or be near the water and have some fun. We offer canoes, kayaks, self-drive motor boats and a chartered narrowboat. In addition the centre itself is a fantastic destination for that special event with its unique location and brand new facilities. Somerset Boat Centre is a recognised RYA training centre for water related courses, alongside this we also offer other work based training programmes.

We are a family business and have been on the water most our lives, the team here at ‘SBC’ are passionate about our inland waterways, in particular, the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal! Come along and meet the team, see the venue and boats and you’ll start to relax in minutes, as the old saying goes, time spent on the water is  “The fastest way of slowing down”

Boats
We have a range of boats available to hire to suit most needs and budgets. Please contact us to reserve the boat and date you want. Please pay attention to the terms and conditions of hire

Skippered Narrow Boat Trips
Available for morning, afternoon and evening cruises. A new trip narrow boat able to carry twelve passengers and two crew is available for private hire.

Wheelchair Accessible Boat Trips
Available to hire by the hour, minimum 1 hour maximum 3 hours. This is a specially adapted wheelchair accessible boat. We can carry up to 4 chair users and 4 carers, or a maximum of 10 passengers. (depending on size and weight of wheelchair) This comes with a skipper and those with upper mobility are able to have a go at driving with our unique helm position.

Rowing Boats
4 seater rowing boats available to hire from 1 hour, very stable and dry boats ideal for those that want a little exercise!

Day Boats
Self drive day boats are available to hire on a daily basis and available all year.
The Orkney dory’s can carry four people and are powered by new tohatsu 6hp engines.
Full instruction is given before the hire starts. Please refer to hire agreement when booking.

Canadian Canoes
Pelican ram-x 3 seater canoes (or 2 adults 2 children) are available to book for an hour, half day or full day. Lifejackets and buoyancy aids will be provided.

Kayaks
We have single and twin seater Kayaks available to hire on a ‘turn up and paddle’ basis, however prior booking is advised.

Paddle Boards
We have stand up paddle boards available to hire, these are very stable and ideal for beginners, no need for wetsuits just wear comfortable clothing but bring some spare clothes just in case!

Doggy Life Jackets & Dry Bag Ruck Sacks
We have a some doggy life jackets and dry bag ruck sacks if available at the time of you booking.
